Manhattanville Drops Maritime Volleyball Despite Tough Defense

THROGS NECK, NY – While the end resulted in a loss to the Manhattanville Valiants (11-25;14-25;16-25) Thursday evening, the game itself was filled with intense defensive play on behalf of the Privateers Women's Volleyball team.

Senior Yanjie Shi (Singapore/Ngeeann Polytechnic) led the women in digs with thirteen while earning two kills on the offensive end.  Freshman Natalie Jackson (Stockton, Calif./Bear Creek) (Stockton, CA/Bear Creek) continued to help keep the Privateers alive with nine digs and two blocking assists. She also registered one kill. Lilliana Lopez (Bronx, NY/Jane Adams) (Bronx, NY/Jane Adams) also had a very productive evening bringing in seven digs, two kills and two blocking assists. Junior Kotomi Pestridge (Marathon, NY/Marathon) registered six digs and as well as one kill. 

The Privateers' record drops to 2-7 overall and 0-3 in the Skyline Conference.  Maritime is back in action this Saturday as they host their first home tournament against Skyline rivals Polytechnic Institute and Russell Sage College. The first game is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. against Polytechnic with the match against Russell Sage to begin at 3 p.m.
